What is a variac?
A variac is essentially a variable transformer with a fixed input voltage (AC) and a variable (adjustable) output voltage (AC). A typical construction has a knob on the top that controls a carbon graphite wiper to rotate across copper coils wound on a toroid magnetic core. The position of the wiper determines the coil ratio, which in turn controls the output AC voltage. A variac is sometimes called auto transformer or variable transformer.
What does Volteq offer?
We carry a number of variable auto transformers by VOLTEQ with 120V or 220V input, and with output ranging from 0-150V to 0-250V.
